Research shows that children thrive in
classrooms where they are valued, loved and feel safe. I believe with all my
heart that for students to feel this way we need to take the time for learning
about each other and celebrating our successes. This will foster a close and
positive classroom community.

To learn more about each other we worked with a partner to illustrate our faces on a Venn diagram. Then we compared things that we had in common, or found things that we didn't have in common. We glued them on the diagram.

We have also
worked hard to get noticed by Mr. Owl who is watching for students with high learning stamina.
If we get "caught" then the class gives a loud “hoot, hoot” and we placed our name in his
tree. Mr. Owl’s tree is getting filled
up quickly.
